Ubisoft has declined to directly clear up rumours that forthcoming action adventure title Assassin's Creed will not be a PS3 exclusive, which have emerged despite previous announcements to the contrary.
Speaking to our sister site, Eurogamer, a representative said: "At the moment, other formats of Assassin's Creed are unconfirmed."
That would seem to suggest Ubisoft is at least considering an Xbox 360 release - despite having stated that the game would only only be out on PS3 when it was first announced.
Assassin's Creed is set in 1191 AD, during the Third Crusade, and sees players take on the role of hero Altair. It's being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the same studio behind the Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell games.
Eurogamer was given the chance to try out the game at E3 last week, and given an Xbox 360 controller with which to play it, adding fuel to the rumours. This could simply mean that the game was being demoed on a PC - but the rumours are still flying after a report on Noooz.com claimed that a Ubi employee has also stated the game is in development for Xbox 360.
UbisoftEA's boutique Montreal production house today announced their new title, Army Of One, to be released in 2007 for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Wii will have wait, it appears.
EA's Reid Schneider had a mouthful to say about the upcoming title:
"This is the game we've always wanted to create. Until now, the hardware would not allow us to deliver truly intelligent AI characters. We've built this game with co-operative TWO man gameplay as the centerpiece of the experience. Whether you're playing with PAI or a friend, it's about the TWO man missions, TWO man strategies and the TWO man advantage that really sets this game apart."
I don't know why, but I get the feeling that there's an emphasis on TWO player participation in this one. Even if one of the two is an AI character, that is. Maybe they can resuscitate Haley Joel Osment from the A.I. movie; he seems like he'd be a fun guy to game with, as long as one doesn't get on his bad side.
New York, NY – May 1, 2006 – 2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), announced today that it will publish Ghost Rider(Game Info), a new third person action title featuring Marvel Comics' iconic motorcycle riding supernatural super hero, Ghost Rider. The game will be based on both the classic comic book series as well as Columbia Pictures/Marvel Studios' star-studded big screen adaptation of Ghost Rider that is expected to blaze into theaters February 2007. The big-screen action-adventurer features Oscar®-winner Nicolas Cage in the title role alongside Eva Mendes (Hitch) and Wes Bentley (American Beauty) as the villainous Blackheart. It looks like SEGA is giving yet another one of their franchises a next-gen sequel. A few days ago they announced Virtua Tennis 3, today SEGA Rally is announced for Xbox 360, PC and Playstation 3. No word of a Wii version.
Apparently they are taking some sort of MotorStorm-like approach to terrain-deforming:
Set to redefine the rally genre with vibrant next generation graphics, intuitive controls, competitive bumper-to-bumper racing and fully reactive environments. SEGA Rally will once again be leading the rest of the pack with a wonderfully vivacious and realistic graphical world that is every gamers driving fantasy.
SEGA Rally offers a vast variety of fully deformable environments and surfaces, from littered gravel tracks, all weather tarmac roads, to snow driven trails - no two laps let alone a race will ever be the same!
And something that I find a bit more interesting; they promised to keep it ‘entertaining’ (read: arcade) instead of making it into an uber-realistic racing-simulator.
April 25, 2006 - SEGA's pre-E3 teaser campaign "The Road to E3" has kicked off today and the first new title to be announced is Virtua Tennis 3.
SEGA are promising "photo-realistic graphics and advanced player animations" for their latest tennis title. Creative Director Matt Woodley said "the quality is so sharp and clear you can even see the veins on the players' necks"
Along with the classic arcadey style tennis action with be a number of new mini-games alongside some classic mini-games from previous Virtua Tennis games.
The Career mode returns as well. Players will travel all across the world in a bid to become world #1. All the top real-life players will be in the game and the AI will be greatly improved other previous editions. You'll also be able to customise your own player to a previously unimaginable degree.
The newly announced arcade game is the first game to have camera functionality
April 26, 2006 - The camera Microsoft has been teasing us with for some time now appears to be coming out soon. Although, with the launch of the camera there needs to be games that actually support it. The new arcade game announced about a week ago, UNO, has stepped up to the plate.
The game will feature full camera functionality. The camera will be accessed through the Dashboard's arcade menu where a camera icon will appear in the right hand corner. Once the game is started, the options menu will be host for a dedicated video setup wizard. Once video is established, an alert will appear on the screen followed by streaming video.
