We all know that 360s picked up at or around the console's launch haven't had the best track record when it comes to reliability. It's getting better, yes, but man, those early machines didn't fare too well. Lotsa red rings, lotsa brown boxes going in and out of MS HQ. In the US, this led to Microsoft grudgingly accepting there was an issue and offering free repairs on any console manufactured before January 1, 2006, regardless of whether or not it was still under warranty.
In the UK, however, they've got bupkis, and the BBC are on to them. Watchdog, a British consumer affairs program, had some none-too-kind words to say about early 360s on their show last night, examining just why so many of them have broken down and interviewing customers who have had a 360 die in their arms.
MS declined to have a representative appear on the show, but have sent out word that one of the customers featured on the program has been sent a new 360 and a free game. Good for them, but what about everyone else?
