okay this is getting annoying, a lot of stuff happened today so lemme start's from the beginning Today i got new internets LOL. I'm with Time Warner now but with a new package and all so it's kinda new. Got a router in the living room where my main connection is and just got my personal room hooked up with internet today and cable. So here's what happened. Wanted the internet in my studio room so guy installed everything but said i needed a wireless adapter to receive internet in that room. went out, blew $80.00 on a top of the line adapter and finally after 30 mins with a rep got internet in my studio room. Step 2, my xbox360 is in my studio room and I wanted to hook up my xbox live in there. so I have a second router which is Linksys and has a ethernet cord hooked into the back of my PC while the Wireless Adapter is hooked into the front USB of the PC receiving the internet. Got everything so far? Third, hook the xbox ethernet into the back of my router into the ethernet port in the back of the 360 but the xbox finds my Network Adapter, and my IP Address but for some reason it does not find my DNS. Everything i do fails. I called xbox support and some Indian guy stayed on the line with me trying to figure things out and nothing was working until well, he hung up or the line disconnected. So now I've called back twice and nothing goes through. Does anyone understand what i just said? Can somebody please help me? _________________________________________________________ The Burninator...
Have you tried enabling internet sharing on your network card on your PC.
Also set up your router coming into your pc without DHCP and set it to have the same ip as the wireless one but one more (say the wireless is 192.168.1.1, make your wired one 192.168.1.2)
Let me know if this works

well the thing is, I have internet in the studio room, that's how i posted that. The main connection is from the living room PC that has the RCA router. I bought a wireless adapter and installed it into my design PC in the studio and it has a conenction and i can go on the internet and download and all. The problem is, i also have a Linksys router sitting ontop of the design comp, that's hooked through the back of the PC with a ethernet cord, and has the xbox360 ethernet plugged into Port 1 running to the 360 console. So why is it not finding my DNS? Please explain if you can like a step by step how to set it up has internet sharing if it already isn't by the info I gave you above. Thanks for helping. _________________________________________________________ The Burninator...
Plug the cable from the back of your computer into port 1 of the wired router (xbox 360 into port 2)
To enable internet sharing go to
Start > My Network Places > View Network Connections > Right click on your wireless connection > Advanced Tab > Check the box that says allow other network users to connect through this router.
That should fix it and if not, you are going to have to go into your linksys router, disable the DHCP and set the IP to one more than that of your RCA router.
If that doesn't fix it post back and we will see if we can fix it for you

Well if the cord doesnt work you should probably buy a wireless network adapter for the xbox and its $99.99 but its worth it if you want it because its wireless and there are no cords to get in the way.
But if you connect the ethernet cable (the one thats connected to the computer) and take it and plug it into your xbox use that i have to do that to since my router sucks or like Frozenfire1 said just try to hook it up from your computers 2nd ethernet port straight into your xbox.

wait a second, do you guys think it would work if i just scrapped my router that im connecting my 360 ethernet cord to and just plug the 360 ethernet to the ethernet port in the back of my PC? I already have a wireless adapter hooked into the USB port in the front of my PC. I'll try that when i get home. _________________________________________________________ The Burninator...

Um yea i think that might work. Mine just simple right now.
I have the ethernet cable coming from my wall into the router then an ethernet cable from my router to the computer and another into my xbox. its a 4-port router so yea. That will work for sure because it works for me if you can do that. Hope this helps

okay so it didn't work. I tried taking the ethernet cable from my 360, and plugging into the back of my PC to get the signal off my comp from my wireless adapter and it didn't come close. instead, it couldnt find my IP address. It continues to say my DNS failed. _________________________________________________________ The Burninator...

first off, my options look complete different from what you've typed, I am working off of windows vista with the studio comp. When i click on Network under the start menu it brings up a folder that lists my PC under there but nothing else. do i got to network and sharing center? add a wireless device? i dont know where to go. hit me up on aim please.
