yep, i saw llamma beat me to replacing the leds in the controller, but he had to go buy some expensive surface mount leds... which also means a limited selection of color.
ive figured out how to replace the green surface mount leds with some 3mm ultrabright blue leds! and if i can do 3mm blue, that means it will be no problem for me to do the other 9 colors of 3mm leds that i stock
here is the controller before i opened it up:
the controllers come with 4 green surface mount leds under the light ring, you can see them in the closeup here:
of course who likes green anyway? isnt that just a bit boring and overdone? of course it is, so i found a way to remove them and replace them with 3mm ultrabright blue leds instead:
the install was difficult, as the surface mount leds are tiny and there is very little space available... the 3mm leds look HUGE in there. there was some other modification to the area around the ring, but i dont have pics of that part yet.
here are some pics of the controller reassembled and lit up with blue:
well its a start at least, but its only the beginning. those leds only all light up when its first plugged in or turned on (took some work to catch it with the camera before it shut back off) so the next step will be to add 4 more 3mm leds under the 360 button itself.... check back for updates in the next day or so!
for a full writeup and alot of HUGE hires pics check this page here! _________________________________________________________ .
