Hey everyone, I'm looking into getting a Blu ray burner but I'm not so sure on what to get or what I should try to stay away from. I was looking at this burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136226, I don't really need anything fancy, just a cheapy that will work the majority of the time when I burn something as I probably won't be burning much on blu ray discs. Also what would you recommend for a brand of discs? I don't really need high quality such as Verbatim, but again something that is ok, (kind of like the memorex DL), all of your opinions and advice will be a big help and as always greatly appreciated . _________________________________________________________

have not advanced that far into blu-rays really yet but that seems to be a really good deal for blu-ray burner and reader. I would always look through comments on it to make sure see what others have to say sometimes it might cost a little more for a good one but its well worth it in the long run.
could try these out not bad price but check feedback if none does not hurt to try out as there is always warranty just dont throw your discs away. if they start to coaster after a few then send the stuff back

From reviews ive seen, Gigablock has a rather high rate of burn failures.
I would stick with Memorex. _________________________________________________________

really they must be doing something wrong lol i have had over 1000 gigablock dl discs and i have not had 1 coaster aka burn failures. I know about 10 other people that use the same gigablock dl discs and they also have done over 500 a piece without fails and also my buds company uses them to now ha.
They give a list of drives that work best for them to burn with mine was not on the list and i dont have a problem. I use to use memorex for the longest time then they switch makers or something and man coaster after coaster then i went to gigablock and never looked back. But have heard that memorex is back in the game though.
Also a lot of people use windata just got to make sure you get the right ones just like verbatim too. Pickers choice really though _________________________________________________________ The one the only Scarface!!

Thanks ALOT for the input, it will help quite a bit while shopping. I've never had any experience with blu ray, I didn't even know they came in 25gb LOL!! Ive seen the gigablocks on ebay before while looking for dvd's and DL's, I've never tried them, was always worried they might be a waste of money since I don't see them around too much in other places, just mostly on ebay. _________________________________________________________

Fuji is another brand worth using, Sony does do decent blu-rays but stay far far away from their DVDs,

I have a Asus Blu-Ray burner, burns anything I throw at it, I need to get some BD-RE's, always handy to keep a few rewritable's around lol _________________________________________________________
Well I decided to go with this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106369 the one I originally was looking at ended the promotion deal that was going on so it was the same price as this one, so this is the one ordered, I'm sure it will be good enough for me and what I'll be doing with it. _________________________________________________________
