NOTE>>>> I did not write the below, I copied and pasted it from a news article.
Today, at the Eurogamer Expo, I’ve been spending some time with all three versions of Battlefield 3. It’s not looking too shabby on any of the formats, but I thought I’d chime in with some thoughts about what the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC versions look like. A bit of subjective analysis, if you will. Here goes…
PC
The PC version is, without a shadow of a doubt, the prettiest of the three formats. That is, of course, to be expected. It’s the lead platform, and the processing power of high-end PCs is quite remarkable these days. (Bear in mind that the game was running on top-spec machines with the latest nVidia video tech.) Textures are astonishingly crisp, even up-close, and while I noticed a tiny bit of pop-in, it’s a rare occurrence and by no means a real problem. The lighting and shadows are gorgeous, and the game world has a real sheen to it. The reflections are subtle, realistic, and wonderful.
It’s also extremely smooth, as you might expect, and the draw distance is great, with none of the foliage pop-in that the other two versions suffer from. The only real issue I noticed was that there was a teensy bit of tearing at times.
PS3
While nowhere near as gorgeous as the PC version, the PlayStation 3 version of Battlefield 3 is the prettier of the console iterations. It’s very crisp, very smooth, and textures only appear slightly blurred when close up. Trees sway nicely in the breeze, although they do suffer from some pop-in when viewing them from a distance, which can be a little bit offputting.
There’s also some quite noticeable texture pop-in, which is a little unfortunate. But the water effects are beautiful, the lighting and shadow effects are extremely strong, and overall it’s a lovely-looking offering.
Xbox 360
Alas, it’s the weakest of the bunch. That isn’t to say it doesn’t look nice. Even on Xbox 360, the Frostbite 2.0 tech is strong. Unfortunately, there was some noticeable framerate stuttering in larger outdoor areas during my time with the game. That’s the biggest hurdle Battlefield 3 Xbox 360 will have to overcome before release, lest it be a little annoying.
Lighting and shadows, as well as reflections, are decent but not quite as strong as the PlayStation 3′s, and nowhere near the level of the PC. There’s some foliage pop-in as well, along the lines of that in the PS3 version. Interestingly, texture pop-in seemed to be almost entirely absent, although said textures are markedly lower-res – disappointingly blurry when up close, in fact.
So there we go! This is, of course, an unfinished build of the game, so these things may change before release. Watch out for our full hands-on Battlefield 3 preview in the coming days. And in the meantime, make sure you’re following all the latest Battlefield 3 news right here at BeefJack!

I had BF2 on both PC and Xbox, I Played on PC first then on the Box. I was really disapointed with the Xbox version, They left so much out of the game, not just graphics and number of players. So many of the ingame options were left out such as marking targets for you team mates and even the weapon setups were changed. For instance, If i remember correctly the PC version had Claymore for the sniper and the xbox 360 version had smoke grenades?!
I am glad there will be a kick ass BF version for the xbox 360 so everyone can enjoy it but I feel BF3 with the others is at its core built for the PC and plays best that way. Then you add in the massive increase in player count and increased graphics capability and its a no brainer for me.
One advantage having it on xbox will be is first... You will be able to play with your usual friends and new ones on a regular basis, the PC world does not work as well, you usually always play with different people rather than online friends all the time. Second.. The Console versions will always be much better at keeping the hackers at bay while you will be much more likely to run into people using mods on the PC version.
Now I have not been keeping up on every aspect of the new game but I am worried mostly about 1 thing. Limited communication with your team, if they limit you to only being able to talk to a small squad in your team, the game rating will drop at least 4 points on that alone for me. They did this for the bad company series and was just stupid. Though I am less likely to use the Mic in PC much anyway because just not many people do, It is a major issue in the Console versions.
I remember playing bad company and holding down a building with another guy and not being able to communicate with him just because the game did not put us in same squad. or being in mounted gun in a vehicle and not being able to talk to the driver even though we both were using microphones.

A $3000 computer should surely beat a $300 console or even a $500 graphics card in a $1500 computer should have no problem doing it. Hell the consoles are what 5 years old?? _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

Well its about that time where Microsoft reveals the next successor, yes its 5 years old. _________________________________________________________
They better go dedicated or go home. These integrated GPU with dedicated RAM will never compete with a good PC vid card. Comparing consoles to PCs is like comparing a gaming laptop (console) to a good gaming PC. If it wasnt for the cost I dont think consoles ever would have made it anywhere and PCs would be dominating the gaming industry.

You dont even need that I spent 917 on mine (220 on the vid card) and it destroys any console.

Yeah, but that's newer tech, those were the prices to beat the 360 and PS3 when they first came out, I should have said.
.. but PC's will always be cool and if you have the money, be the best graphics. Still for the money, the consoles still rock and this is the year we will see the best the current consoles can do.
In a way, it's too bad that it will be another couple years before, Sony or Microsoft comes out with a new console.
Nice comparisons there gamexxover! _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

We all knew that the PC would be amazing, due to the fact that all of the trailers were recorded on high end PC's.
For me, I'll be playing on x360 first, then on the PC.
I've got my new 64bit RIG setup i7 3D with 8GB ram so im guessing i should be just fine for the game. Only problem is i use my new laptop for work. hope it don't screw with my shit.. lol _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:
